sepago releases user profile management solution for Citrix, desktop, and VDI scenarios

Cologne, 04 September 2007 – The user profile management solution sepagoPROFILE not only optimizes Citrix environments, but is now also available for desktop and VDI scenarios. This makes sepago the first to present a solution for complete user profile management.

User profiles in Citrix and Terminal Server environments are subject to special requirements. As users are guided to a variety of computer resources in the server farm, user profiles must follow the users. Conventionally, this is achieved through server-side profiles. The drawback: If one user runs multiple sessions on various servers within the farm, these profiles may overwrite each other. For the user, this leads to corrupted profiles and incomprehensible effects. The productivity of the user decreases while the support effort increases. sepago now offers a solution to this problem. The highly developed sepagoPROFILE management software for user profiles only saves those contents from each user session in the central user profile that have actually been changed. This excludes an overwriting of older settings.
In addition, sepagoPROFILE's special functionality ensures significantly reduced login and logout times at Citrix and terminal servers. Version 1.5 of sepagoPROFILE can now also be used by rich clients.

Considering the vision of leading software manufacturers on what has become known as desktop delivery, it becomes apparent that the IT workplace will increasingly be provided virtually in the future. In this scenario, the user does not care on which device the application runs. Various virtualization techniques facilitate a redirection to the matching device. Products from Microsoft, Citrix, or VMware take care of assigning the optimal computing resource to the user for the task at hand.
