Task Secure access to centralized applications via the state’s administrative network. Solution Introduction of a Citrix Portal solution on the basis of Metaframe XP Presentation Server. The availability of the application within Portal is achieved by the use of Citrix Web interfaces for Metaframe XP and Citrix Secure Gateway. This solution is comfortable, secure, and futuristic and allows the exact and fast realization of the clients wishes taking the demand for security of the civil administration into consideration. Future The integration of state training centers, the realization of remote job facilities for support employees of the data processing center, the integration of home based work stations for tax officers.
Task The migration of the Netinstall package of the complete application set with regard to the rollout of Windows 2000 Professional Notebooks. Solution Due to the improved power management functions of Windows 2000 Professional on notebooks the migration of over 80 application packages with regard to Platform Windows 2000 Professional has been achieved. On this occasion the NT4 Netinstall packages for desktop systems still in use have been used as bases so that a double package maintenance service could be avoided. For our clients that means minimal investment and very little additional service.
Task Consolidation of servers (reduction from 3 to 2 servers) in the field of controller and exchange within 150 offices of the state of NRW. Solution The original so-called triple systems have been replaced by a new more powerful hardware. The components (PDC, BDC, Exchange, Wins, IIS, Applications, OS distribution, Netinstall Server) which had been dispersed to 3 servers have now been allotted to only 2 systems. This has mainly been achieved by a well calculated variabilisation of over 460 Netinstall Scripts. Adaptation in the field of automatic installation of the operating system have enabled the almost complete automation of the entire process. Future Migration of the existing Windows NT 4.0 domain concept into Active Directory.
